Show me the horizon...

Ironically, I just watched Priates of the Caribbean, and my brother had his pirate name listed in his blog. So here's mine:

Captain Jack Flint

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Find your priate name at fidius.org.

From a Friend's Profile:

Here's a question i have, feel free to respond.
Why are people so against taxes? Nobody makes money without the state. Without police, fire, water, education, transportation, gov't agencies, etc. you wouldn't have the opportunity to make money. Also, the people who lived before you set you up in an environment to make money, so why are we so against helping them out? And we talk about how its okay for others to sacrifice lives for the nation in war, but we're not willing to sacrifice a paycheck. Seems fishy to me.

Makes sense. Maybe one day I'll come up with something profound of my own.

I am still undecided...

Can I just say that I'm not pleased with the way this election turned out? Of course, I wouldn't be pleased if Kerry had won either. I've never been a proponent of choosing the lesser of two evils, well because frankly, evil is still evil. However, each man had qualities that I admired and qualities I didn't.

I'm pretty sure that I'm glad Bush was in office on 9/11/01, but I am not convinced of the quality of his job in Iraq. Bush's faith (or proclamation thereof) gives me a decent insight into his character as a man, but if there is anything that will change a man, it's power. I like that he encourages small business, but dislike the preference he gives to those in the higher tax brackets. I really dislike his lack of environmental policy.

Kerry has shown himself to be intelligent and charismatic. I like his concern for the poorer people in our country, but I don't think the government should be responsible for everything. It seems to me that John Kerry has a heart for people. Unfortunately, his inability to take a firm stance on anything made me nervous. I also really disliked that he said that he would not let his beliefs influence his policy decisions. If a self-proclaimed devout man will not let his beliefs affect his life, how committed can he ever be to anything?

I am the undecided voter and I pray that above all that God's will be done, either through or in spite of the new government.
